SSC History

During a parliament session of 1967-68, the SSC’s idea of the Staff Selection Commission was put up. The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms established this Commission under the name of the Subordinate Service Commission In 1975.

The Subordinate Service Commission was renamed as Staff Selection Commission on September 26, 1977. Moreover, under the guidance of several reports, the new constitution and functions were implemented over the Staff Selection Commission from June 1, 1999. Currently, all the examinations conducted under SSC run through the guidance implemented in 1999.

Headquarters and Regional Offices:

The main headquarters of the SSC is located in New Delhi. It had several branches in the entire India. These are called Regional Offices and are situated all over India. Some of the regional offices known as the key offices are situated in Prayagraj, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Guwahati, and New Delhi. Moreover, the SSC had sub-regional offices as well and they are situated in Raipur and Chandigarh.

Eligibility and Exam Pattern:

The SSC conducts more than 20 types of jobs all over India. It includes non-gazetted as well as government jobs. The individual is required to have a graduation certificate from a recognized university or board To appear in job recruitment. However, various jobs need physical fitness and other standard qualifications that need to be met to get chosen for the job.
